"HAIKU & PAINTING" BOOK PROJECT

A HAPPY COINCIDENCE! A blend of painting and Japanese poetry

This collaboration was born of a beautiful friendship and a happy coincidence: a haiku here, a painting there... An extraordinary encounter between painting and poetry: a blend of colours and words.

“Impromptu haiku

Never lets go.”

Haiku in French:

Aux flux de la mer,

Perle verte s´épanouit

Dans les eaux salées.

This type of poetry is primarily descriptive. Nature and the seasons are the major themes of haiku. Underlying it is a profound, meditative, even philosophical aspect. It shines through in the poet's feelings.

This collection of haiku, written by Raphaëlle, highlights Carolina's paintings. It brings them to life and captures their essence. With this book, they invite you to immerse yourself in this harmonious artistic universe and let your imagination run free for a short while. Enjoy the journey!

Here's the very first...

A haiku here, a painting there... Here's the first “painting and haiku” combination, our first crush!

Warm, languorous wind

Thunderstorms and azure skies,

Summer begins its madness.

A few words about haiku

Originating in Japan, the haiku captures a moment in a few syllables. It is the shortest known form of poetry. The traditional form comprises three lines of seventeen syllables (or mores). Sometimes irregular, it can also include one or two mores more or less. Free haiku, on the other hand, escapes these rules and can be much shorter. An older, longer form of Japanese poetry, called tanka, consists of two lines of seven additional syllables.
