My second hobby: Painting

Title of the painting: 'SUMMER WELCOME!'

Message: Stop for a moment to observe the world around you. You will soon discover that you are surrounded by beauty. Take a short moment to breath in deeply  and enjoy the connection you have made with the world.

From an early age, I have enjoyed painting. What I loved most of  all was to being able to mix beautiful colours to create even more beautiful once. I find I connect with bright colours a lot more than darker once.
Once I am immerged in my painting activity, I feel miles away from my everyday life, like in a dream where what matters is the canvas, my brushes, my creativity and myself.

If you enjoy the painting, please feel to leave a comment. ;-)

11 August 2013:
More painting in my life

Title of the painting: LIFE IS A FIRE WORK!'

Message: If sometimes life is a bit chaotic, stop the engine and come out. You have time now to think about what it is that is important to you. It will remind you what you are living for.

This is a part of a bigger picture that I painting during an afternoon of intuitive painting.

If you enjoy the painting, please feel to leave a comment. ;-)

9 August 2013:
Intuitive painting

Title of the painting: 'E FOR EARTH!'

Message: Being grounded is very important to feel alive and to be part of this world. The crystal, Hematite, helps you to keep your feet down on the ground.
You can also visualise roots growing from your feet down to the heart of the earth.

In this painting you see some of the earth elements: fire, water, wind.
The fire is warming up the heart
The water is cooling down negative impulse
The wind is making the wheel of life go around.

A bit of latin doesn't harm

Title of the painting: Verba Volant, Scripta Manent!'

Message: Spoken words fly away, written words remain.
It is better to write down your dreams. By writing them and seeing what you write, you help your unconscious mind to lead you to them.

For those who like cooking

       -     My first Baqlawa     -
What is Baqlawa or Baklava? It is a dessert originated in the Middle East made of phyllo pastry filled with chopped nuts and soked with honey.

Today I have decided to bake Baklava by myself.
I thought it was going to be quite a challenge to make such a delicacy and although I had bought the phyllo pastry days before, it took me a while before I decided to go for it.

Preparation time: 1 hour

What do you need?
- one pack of phyllo pastry
- 50 g butter
- 200 g ground almonds or hazelnuts
- 40 g sugar
- 1/4 tea spoon of cinnamon
- 1/4 cup of orange blossom water
- 300 g honey
- 30 x 24cm tray

Preparation:
- mix 1 spoon of melted butter with the almonds, sugar, cinnamon and orange blossom water.
- layer 6 sheets of phyllo pastry in the tray making sure that each sheet is heavily brushed with melted butter.
- spread the nut mixture on top of the 6th layer. Make sure it is flat and even.
- layer another 6 'buttered' sheets on top of the mixture.
- cut the pieces in the shape you want: square, rectangle or diamond
- place the tray in the ofen for 40 min at 180 degree Celsius
- once out of the oven, sprinkle with the melted honey, so that the pastry will be soaked in honey.
- some say to leave it in the fridge for a night before eating it.
As soon as I soaked the patry with honey I couldn't resist to have a piece.
It is delicious when it is still warm...

Bon Appétit!
